Working through Churches

Operating with Authenticity
Our Focus
We have two main areas of work: Child Sponsorship and Water Projects.
But we don’t stop there. We also assist in providing disaster relief, planting churches and training pastors, starting schools and equipping teachers, and building medical clinics worldwide.

Child Sponsorship
CRF sponsors provide for the intellectual, physical, spiritual and social needs of thousands of children living in poverty.

Water Projects
1 in 10 people lack access to clean water. Our water and sanitation programs have provided clean water more than 300,000 people in recent years.

Disaster Relief
When disaster strikes, CRF teams are on the ground providing for the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of those affected—especially children.

Education
Around the world, CRF is supporting schools that help children escape the cycle of poverty. Not only do students benefit from a quality eduction, but entire communities are growing and thriving thanks to our high-performing schools.

Church Planting
Our eternal hope is Jesus Christ, so we are active in equipping church planters around the world. Many of our programs are led by local churches and leaders.

Medical Care
CRF provides medical care for some of the most vulnerable people on the planet through our healthcare clinics worldwide. From HIV/AIDS to maternity to preventative care, our partnered medical professionals are committed to work that helps entire communities thrive.

A History of Serving Others
In 1971, Baxter Loe, an Amarillo businessman and preacher went on a mission trip to India. While in India, Baxter met a preacher named John Abraham. John told Baxter of the extreme poverty and suffering happening in his community. He shared about his struggle to feed his own family. After learning of John’s tremendous need, Baxter promised that he would help him in the future.
After returning from India, Baxter quickly got caught up in his normal life in the United States. Eventually he remembered his promise to John Abraham. When Baxter sought out information about how to send John money for food, he was met with four words: ‘John Abraham is dead.’
John Abraham had starved to death, waiting for aid to arrive. Baxter was haunted by the thought of John waiting for help that never came. After many troubled nights, Baxter decided that God was calling him to support the orphaned children John Abraham left behind. And so he did.
But he didn’t stop with John’s children. Baxter worked to find additional support for more and more children—in India, Central America, Africa, and all over the world.
Baxter founded Christian Relief Fund in 1971. Since then, CRF sponsors have helped thousands of orphans and vulnerable children in more than 30 countries to escape the cycle of poverty.
